Depressed? Know The Best Ways to Motivate Yourself

Depressed? Know The Best Ways to Motivate Yourself

How many times have you seen yourself at a spot where you seek the same question numerous times? The question that we constantly ask is- “How to motivate me?”

Too simple of a question but the answer that lies under is way more intricate. I personally when going through such a phase where I feel less motivated I go through this quote by Maya Angelou.

“We May Encounter Many Defeats But We Must Not Be Defeated.” – Maya Angelou

Do you know why or how this quote encourages? We as human beings are designed in a manner where we get easily disheartened by our downfalls. After which we tend to form these dark mists around us making ourselves feel the worst of all and not getting enough of willingness to come out of them. This feeling is totally natural as I myself have been through it.

But, what if you already prepare yourself by saying what Maya had to say? You will find out that the pain of downfall will be the scantiest and the next morning after, you will feel strong enough to retry and get that “improbable” thing done again. I know it is well said than done but trust me on this, the better way to keep your motivation on is to say yourself every morning that “You Can Do It” no matter what.

Our brains are accustomed to the manners we induce ourselves with. So, chiefly if we amuse ourselves in a positive way that anything is possible, then our brain will automatically acknowledge it in a way that will consequently bring the motivation inside our lives.

Sometimes demotivation can be a vital reason for failures which results in having mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, etc. Or the case might be the reverse. The mental illness, one faces, which results in creating a sense of demotivation inside your mind.

The question arises- What to do then? How to manage stress?

Try out doing these things and maybe you would find yourself in a completely new place than where you were earlier. Would like to add that the points that are outlined here will be difficult and impossible at times, but what we need to do is keep on trying and never give up on our depression treatment. One day you will come out with flying colors and see a vivid change in your own lifestyle.

  • Make time for yourself – In the hectic time routine all of us run by sometimes we ignore the fact that we have to make time for ourselves too. It helps in an increase in our productivity later on and is one of the best stress management policies. When we say, make time for yourself it directly means doing things that you love to do. It might be anything like drinking a cup of coffee at a coffee bar, reading a book, listening to a podcast, or even painting. You will find out that later on you are motivated enough to do your work much better than before.
  • Try journaling – Yes! You should at least tee doing it. It helps you in looking at your own lifestyle as a third person. It becomes really easy to keep a tab on what is going wrong in your life once you start journaling them in your diary and then you can make slight changes every day in a slow manner.
  • Try meditating – Meditation benefits have never disappointed anyone. The benefits of mediation are extremely wholesome. There is a shift in personality being calm and determined as well as motivated once you start meditating at least 20 minutes per day as a beginner.

These three are the basic things you can do to start a track of how motivated you can feel after. Well, again this isn’t magic that will happen in seconds. It takes practice with patience and above all a firm belief on yourself that you can overcome your stress, depression, and anxiety. Once you start having that trust in yourself, nothing can make you feel demotivated again, no failure will ever disappoint you.
